Back with a solid 750m
After the last two days of challenging conditions, both physically and mentally, I returned to the water today on good form. Temperature had dropped a touch to 9 degrees but as I reached the end of the 500m route I decided I felt good enough to push on and complete an additional 250m.
When I got out of the water one of the many regular swimmers in Brightlingsea (the vast majority of whom I must say are women) approached me with a very kind donation that she had retrieved from her car when she saw the board outside my hut. She told me that she stopped swimming in September and will return next spring. Very sensible! Many thanks for the donation Mhairi!
The water temperature is very interesting and has dropped much faster than in previous years. The last time the water temperature went below 10 degrees for this time in November was 2013. The records I checked from the website https://seatemperature.info/brightlingsea-water-temperature.html go back as far as 2007 and at no time has the temperature dropped to 9 degrees for this time in November.
Leaves me wondering how low the temperature may get this winter.
